There is pride in most noble deeds. It so stealthily crouches in that even the most godly person may become its victim.
Are you aware? There is, pride of being generous, pride of being spiritual, pride of being more knowledgeable, pride of fasting and praying more than others, pride of preaching better than others, pride of worshipping, pride of speaking in tongues more than others, pride of being holier than others, pride of knowing the scriptures well, pride of being gifted and above all pride of being humble. The list can go incessantly.
Aren’t we also guilty of some of these? I confess, I am Lord, forgive me and give your grace to be truly humble.
Let’s pursue true humility. The humility that Jesus exhibited, when He left the Heavenlies and became so lowly. Never did He brag about His grandeur in heavens. Never did He use His supernatural powers for His own gratification.Never did He look down upon sinners or socially rejected. How humble He was in front of His mockers and persecutors!
Let’s learn from Him as He says;
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
True humility is the sign of a true Christian.
